Like a phoenix

Words that the heart refuses to speak aloud.

Freedom is when words grow wings,
Break free from cocoons of puerility,
Flutter in warm breeze of thoughts,
To spread sweetness of camaraderie.

Freedom is when thoughts spew fire,
Burn down castles of supremacism,
Blow winds of change, glory of God,
To liberate minds shackled in silence.

Freedom is when change knocks off
Knees that choke the lifeline of poor,
Chops hands that muzzle their voice,
To herald a new dawn of equality.

Freedom is when ice melts in hearts,
Cleanses the scum of hatred and rage,
Fills the fountains of love and faith,
To quench the thirst of humanity.

Freedom is when hands lock in sync,
Africa to America, Kashmir to Kerala,
To roar I can’t breathe in one voice,
And hope this may be the last time.

Freedom is when hope finally erupts,
In every chest across every ocean,
Bigotery crumbles like an ember and,
Dreams rise like a phoenix, yet again.
